I used to ride a motorcycle before, until I almost killed myself on McKinley Road 58 years ago. I loved the roaring sound the speed of that big Yamaha but the mere thought of that near fatal accident decided to stick to four wheels. So, now in my 80's reliving my youth I thought of riding an old affordable high performance Mercedes not a sports car but a sedan an old man's car. Now an important topic to discuss is maintenance and mileage. My over 20 seems old seems very low, which makes me think either I have a unicorn or under 160k miles. I love the M113k myself, the soul it has, the raw power and the natural sound and feel. I have thought about getting a m113 K cls but what holds me back is the unknown when it comes to long term ownership, getting it to 200k and beyond without massive bills. This is something few people discuss and to me, a powerful machine should also be strong enough to last. Obviously not like a lexus or toyota but to a reasonable mileage, maybe 400k for example, with excellent maintenance of course. Now what is the cost to get there and can this or any m156 car do that without costing the price of another one? Some options i've considered aside from the m156 cls is the older bmw e39 m5, or the 2nd gen cayenne turbo s. Both of those feel stiffer and handle better than most mercedes of the same era.
Mercedes E55 AMG video. Today we take a look at some basic things to know if you plan on owning one. These cars can definitely cost a bit to maintain, and behave like a money pit, but if you can find the right model and mod it the correct way, it will serve you a long time!
